3A Airbrakes Test Facilitation

From field to road…do you have employees that drive your trucks, but don’t have their licenses? We are looking for experienced drivers that would like to obtain their Airbrakes and Class 3A license. The PEI Agriculture Sector Council will be facilitating these two courses through JVI and Access. This project will be processed through the Canada Job Grant and Skills PEI.
Day 1- Airbrake theory
Day 2- Review of Airbrakes and Airbrake test (written on site), Preform a pre-use inspection
Day 3- Driving and Testing for Class 3A (time scheduled test on site)
Day 4- Driving and Testing for Class 3A (time scheduled test on site)
Requirements- must have valid truck driving experience, but not licensed & Medical completed and returned
Lunch will be provided

The intention of the GEN AG Program is to inspire high school students to consider careers in agriculture by engaging them in exploring the diversity of agriculture-related career opportunities available in their home provinces, in Canada and around the world.
During GEN AG 2017, students will work together in small groups as marketing companies in order to develop and implement creative and innovative marketing ideas that promote ag-sector careers to high school students in their schools.
Each class participating in GEN AG 2017 will be eligible for the following supports:
· a free field trip or classroom presentation
· $100 per group to support development and implementation of marketing ideas
A minimum of seven classes is required to deliver the program. Additional class time may be required. If students from your class advance to the provincial GEN AG Competition, then more time will be required in order to prepare them for the competition.

Weed Wiping / Spot Spraying - Pesticide Training Session: Pre-Register by July 17, 2017

Weed Wiping - Pesticide Training Session
Individuals who wish to apply a HERBICIDE using a wiper, roller or brush or by making a spot treatment may now obtain a Class I Pesticide Applicator Certificate. A training session is offered by the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries. No exam is required, but you must attend this training session to receive a Weed/Wiping Certificate. Individuals not attending this training session must complete a written examination. The cost of the certificate if $75.
Please bring your payment and driver’s license or photo ID.
The course will only be held if there is sufficient interest.
Please note that this training session is not meant for farmers who have their full pesticide license. It is targeted for hired labour who will conduct weed wiping or spot spraying only as part of their duties.
