Must be willing to learn and understand animal behaviors
Must be able to tolerate and willing to learn and perform the following tasks: euthanasia, artificial insemination, vaccination, piglet processing, ear tagging, tattooing, pressure washing and other procedures normal to animal husbandry.
Must be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors and frequently noisy conditions

Job Description:
Adhere to bio-security standards
Maintain an organized and clean work area daily
Assist in Breeding and farrowing duties
Assist in weighing and sorting pigs for transport
Perform routine maintenance, pressure washing and prep rooms for animal entry. as needed
Daily monitors and evaluates sow health and condition
Maintain accurate records of deaths / births on sow cards and report potential or existing problems to Barn Manager in a timely manner
Ensure that the farm’s work environment is safe by using safety equipment and following safety protocols
Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns
Prepare feed formulations to meet the changing nutritional needs of pigs
Perform pen management, culling, sorting and safety procedures
Ensure proper usage of medication
Unload/sort wean pigs according to weekly schedules
Perform maintenance work as required
Troubleshoot problems with equipment
Be responsible for accurate and timely record keeping of nursery activities
Perform euthanasia according to company policy and in a timely manner
Ability to detect diseases and health problems in livestock and apply appropriate medication
Following approved Standard Operating Procedures guidelines in feed and water daily.
Assist in moving sows, boars and piglets as directed by supervisor
Follow animal welfare policies and procedures including: - providing a physical environment that meets the animals needs; provide access to adequate and appropriate treatment of the animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia.
Process litters daily. Processing includes but not limited to castration, iron shots and tail docking.
Assists sows when having farrowing difficulties. Medicate sow when needed, following predetermined protocol.
Aid in breeding and gestation areas when needed.
Coordinate and perform general repairs and maintenance on facility equipment
Assist other farm employees in completing needed tasks of the day
