Required Skills:
3-4 years proven work experience managing people, elevator equipment and elevator operations is essential

Degree/diploma in agricultural business and/or equivalent training

Knowledge of government grain facility regulations

Experience managing a safety program and creating a safety-first culture
Candidates must have
- Proven interpersonal skills that supports a team approach within the elevators and organization
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and shift between projects on a time-sensitive basis.
- Project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication

Must be computer literate with proven ability in the use of spreadsheets, database, and word processing software applications within a Windows-based operating environment.

Requires the ability to read, write, and comprehend English written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies, and memo, and communicate clearly with your coworkers and supervisors.

Must be able to make decisions and work independently; be detail-oriented with excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.

Maintenance experience with a mechanical aptitude is preferred.

Grain organization/grain marketing experience is preferred.

Confined Space Training is preferred

Atlantic Pure Grains is located in a rural environment and a valid Prince Edward Island Driver’s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle is required

Class 3 license is essential; Class 1 license is preferred

Fork Lift License is an asset.

General Duties:
Responsible for grain handling including incoming, stored, and outgoing grain

Maintain grain quality, purity and testing, and provide grain drying services according to Canadian standards

Responsible for purchasing grain, grain pricing and managing quality

Ensure elevator operations comply with all laws and regulations and codes of practice
Maintains positive professional service relationship with employees, suppliers and customers, as well as freight personnel within the supply chain leading to increased sales, and positively tested reputation

Supervise, lead, and develop full-time and part-time elevator employees enabling employee growth and professionalism by utilizing policies and procedures

Lead and coach team members in a “safety first” culture and efficient operation of the facility and to meet regulatory and safety criteria

Plans/coordinates daily work schedule for team
Ensures payroll and production records are accurate and maintained properly

Review invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with suppliers on a timely basis
- Assists with development and implementation of grain origination marketing plans
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility and the professional appearance of equipment, rolling stock, and facilities
- Stays current and informed on industry trends, competitive practices, and regulatory compliance
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and safety
- Responsible for ensuring Preventative Maintenance plans are followed
- Complete monthly inventory reporting,
- Assist with annual budget and monitor actual results, taking action to explain or address discrepancies as appropriate,
- Develop KPIs and report on monthly, and quarterly insights and analytics
- Participate in community partner meetings with other team members when required.
- Be a subject matter expert for the organization grain handling and storage best practices
