Required Skills:

Job Description:
Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging career in Atlantic Canada ? The Charlottetown Research and Development Centre is seeking a dynamic Farm Operations Manager to join their Harrington Research Farm. Reporting to the Associate Director of Research, Development and Technology this key role will oversee all daily farm activites; providing direction to staff, and supporting experimental field research. This will be achieved by collaborating with a team of onsite researchers and technicians or community stakeholders.

Responsabilities include:

•Providing guidance to management, scientists, technical staff and other external clients regarding agricultural research operations at the Farm.
•Effectively hiring, training, and supervising farm staff (including permanent, seasonal employees and students) on daily operational tasks.
•Overseeing safety for all who work on site and responsible for compliance of safety protocols by performing inspections and identifing anomolies and incorparating corrective measures.
•Participating in developing plans for land use in current and succeeding years.
•Coordinating the servicing and maintanence of farm equipment supported by a certified mechanic.
•Researching and participating in tendering documents, maintaining and compiling records and inventories, and preparing purchase requisitions for material and supplies.
Reliability Status security clearance

Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Ability and willingness to travel and work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
Ability and willingness to work overtime including evenings and weekends.
Known allergies must be controlled, through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
Wages:
$30.42 to $33.05 per hour (Supervisory differential of 15%. Salary under review.)
