Completion of secondary school and several years of experience in Human Resources would be an asset. Knowledge of the agricultural industry would be an asset. Computer skills and the ability to work with a variety of people with little supervision are essential.

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.

Job Description:
Specifically the Program Officer will perform the following duties:

Advertise the project information employee and employer clients through social media (Facebook/Twitter), farm visits, cold calls, attending fairs and exhibitions, visiting local career centres, and attending career fairs.

Act as administrator and update/maintain the flow of information to all parties involved

Promote agriculture careers with outreach in the communities

Increase the database of Agriculture employers and employees through promotion.

Develop a working relationship with agricultural employers to gain knowledge of the industry while working to address their staffing needs.

Must maintain detailed tracking sheets of all activities completed.

Assist employers in finding students interested in agriculture

Use promotional information from Agriculture in the Classroom to promote Careers in Agriculture

Attend Agriculture in the Classroom PEI events that promote Careers in Agriculture

Attend the Gen Ag event from AITC PEI to market and promote careers in agriculture to students directly being promoted by students as the recruiters

Be available to meet face to face with employee clients in office setting

Work with employee clients to determine their agricultural career choices and skills while assisting in development of job search skills and providing information on specific agricultural jobs available.

Outline the seasonal jobs to for the Prosper Project (formerly Harvest & Prosper)

Provide support to future underutilized groups for filling labour gaps

Help connect students with farms for the Farm Team Student Bursary program.

Work with all groups involved in projects

Wages:
$562/week based on 37.5 hours - paid through EI benefits as positions are funded through the Work Experience Program
